THE story

Street Step Fitness began as an idea that sparked my curiosity. After hours of searching, I couldn't find a program that combined street dance and step fitness, so I decided to create one myself. I wanted to merge my two passions—fitness and dance—by designing a class that was both physically challenging and mentally engaging. In each session, participants not only learn street dance moves but also dive into the history and culture behind them—exploring the different styles, their origins, and the inspiration behind the movement. This approach connects the physical workout with the rich cultural history of hip-hop and street dance.

For the past 16 years, I’ve been deeply immersed in the hip-hop world as a dancer and teacher. I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the pioneers of hip-hop, engaging in countless conversations about the origins, proper names, and cultural significance of various dance moves. Along the way, I’ve traveled to places like Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Toronto, and Vancouver to soak in what each city has to offer. These experiences have enriched my understanding of the art form, deepening my connection to its roots and the global community it represents. In addition to my dedication to hip-hop, I've also explored other fitness disciplines, including spin, which has helped me create a well-rounded approach to teaching and training.

In 2009, I joined my first hip-hop crew, NXG Company, and quickly moved into a leadership role as Co-Director, competing at an international level. I later joined White Chocolate, where I performed and continued to compete. My journey has taken me across Canada, Korea, Singapore, and the U.S., teaching and performing in renowned places like Millennium Dance Complex in LA. I’ve had the honor of working with artists like Janet Jackson, Tsar B, Nelly, Sean Kingston, and the Jabbawockeez. Most recently, I played the role of 'Tondo' in *Prison Dancer: The Musical* (Citadel Theatre, National Arts Centre), where I also served as assistant choreographer and dance captain. My choreography experience extends to circus productions, commercials, and music videos for artists like NCT Dream, Josh Sahunta, Lia Cole, and TSN’s Special Olympics, to name just a few. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to combine my passion for dance with my love for community, from opening Ra Stylez Studio with my co-partner Richard Andries to contributing to a range of projects that support and uplift local communities.

With Street Step Fitness, I wanted to innovate and offer something new to the community—something that brings the best of both worlds. It is more than just a class—it’s an experience that celebrates movement, music, and community, while pushing YOU to be the best version of yourself.
